Hsuan Ma
Taiwan ⬌ New York City
Hsuan is a bilingual reporter who covers local news in Brooklyn, NY.
Born in New Zealand and raised in Taiwan, she explores the nuances of the Mandarin-speaking community in New York, focusing on immigration, culture, and the Taiwanese diaspora.
Her work explores the underrepresented community that is often overshadowed by mainstream society.
Hsuan also won two awards in the 2025 Mandarin Journalism Awards for Overseas Media for her reporting on Taiwanese culture and the overseas Ta community in New York City.
She is a visual storyteller who feels weird without a camera and not talk to people when she sees perfect angles.
When she’s not reporting, she loves music, arts and spending time with two adorable cats, Livi and Luna.
