The MET Great Hall Commission: Tong Yang-Tze, Dialogue

The Metropolitan Museum of Art invited Taiwanese calligrapher Yang-tzu Tong to create two large-scale works for display in the Great Hall. Tong, a celebrated master whose art has been featured on Taiwan’s passport and on the monumental billboard at Taipei Main Station, brought her contemporary calligraphy practice into one of the world’s most iconic institutions.

Hsuan covered the panel discussion, interviewed curator Lesley Ma, and produced articles, a photo essay, and a video highlighting Tong’s installation and its cultural significance.
