86st Homeless Shelter Protest

The city had announced the proposal of implementing a homeless shelter in the South Brooklyn neighborhood hub in 2024.

Since then, the residents have been waging war against the administration and the developer.

Some might say this is simply “Not in my backyard act,” but after examining the public record, we found out the developer had violated several regulations while apply for further demolition permits.

The case is now under the Board of Standards and Appeals(BSA)’s review.

This series documented their fight, resilience, and the community power.
