On the way to saving lives
How does a marketing strategist end up becoming a stray cat rescuer in New Jersey?
For Eason Wu, the journey began with a simple accident.
Eight years ago, he discovered an abandoned kitten at a McDonald’s drive-through at Newark, NJ. Then he noticed more cats peeking out nearby. Those innocent faces stirred something in him, opened up a new life path for him, and those were still looking for a forever home.
Today, Wu is the co-founder of the nonprofit organization Cat Allies Project, a rescue network spanning New Jersey and New York City’s five boroughs. The group has helped more than 400 stray cats find homes and educated the public.
In this series, I followed Wu’s pattern for a day to see how compassion turns into mission, and what these cats mean to him.
